Eva L. Clemons, daughter of Hugh and Julia Wilson Pruitt, was born August 22, 1919, near Prosperine, Missouri. She departed this life Friday, February 10, 2006, in Christian Healthcare South, in Lebanon, Missouri, at the age of eighty-six years, five months, and eighteen days.
On January 4, 1936, she was united in marriage to Clon Clemons, the love of her life, and to this union one daughter was born.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Clon, on May 3, 1994; a brother, Dale Pruitt; two sisters, Norma Lee Pruitt, and Maxine Crihfield; and a sister-in-law, Velma Pruitt.
Eva is survived by a daughter, Sue Anderson, and her husband, Andy, of Lebanon, Missouri; a granddaughter, Angie Mills, and her husband, Dean, of Lebanon, Missouri; a great-grandson, Andrew Mills, of Lebanon, Missouri; several nieces and nephews; as well as a host of other relatives and many friends.
She was born and raised in the Prosperine community, and some of her fondest memories as a child were of farming. After she and Clon were married, they made their home on their farm in the Prosperine area and lovingly raised their daughter. In addition to being a devoted and hardworking homemaker, Eva helped her husband in the operation of their farm and meat processing business. She also worked for the Rice Stix Factory in Lebanon before it became the H. D. Lee Company, and was employed at the M. F. A. Grocery in Lebanon for several years.
Eva made her profession of faith in Christ at the age of eleven, and her name was written in the Lamb's Book of Life forever.
One of her greatest loves was music. Her husband, Clon, was an old time country fiddler, and Eva was his drummer. Many times the family would get together to play music and enjoy each other's company. She was raised in a time when family was all you had, and to her family came first. She always had a delightful smile, was a good influence to anyone who ever knew her, and had a tremendous understanding of people, no matter what their circumstance. In her spare time she enjoyed gardening, growing beautiful flowers, and working in her yard.
Eva was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and aunt, and was a caring neighbor and friend. She was dearly loved by many and as time passes let us not forget the influence she was to others. Even in the last days of her illness, her thoughts were on others. Perhaps we could learn something from that. We celebrate Eva's life and her accomplishments and will cherish the wonderful memories she created for her family and friends.
Services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, February 14, 2006, in the Holman-Howe Chapel, Lebanon. Burial will be in the Prosperine Cemetery. Visitation will be held Monday evening from 7 - 9:00 p.m. under the direction of Holman-Howe Funeral Home of Lebanon, Missouri. Memorial contributions to the Prosperine Cemetery Perpetual Care Fund may be made through the funeral home.
