Mary Virginia Price Brown left her family for a higher glory Saturday, February 9, 2008. She was born August 15, 1921, in Lyon County, Kentucky, and raised in Webster County, Kentucky. She graduated, with honors, from Wheatcroft High School in Wheatcroft, Kentucky, and Lockyear's Business College in Evansville, Indiana. She followed her hometown sweetheart to San Francisco, California, to be married in Reno, Nevada, on January 1, 1943, while he was between Navy Deployments. She is survived by her husband, George O. Brown, of Pensacola; her daughter and son-in-law, Georgann & Roger McDonald of Pensacola; her son and daughter-in-law, Roger and Karen Brown of Wabash, Indiana; her daughter, Sara Brown of Pensacola; and two grandsons. She is also survived by three great-granddaughters. She spent her life devoted to her husband, George, of sixty-five years and raising her children in the love and admonition of the Lord. She instilled her children with the importance of education, integrity, and faithfulness with a sweet but wry and mischievous sense of humor. Mary was a committed Christian serving in Bellview Baptist Church, where she headed the development and management of the Bellview Mission House, served as Kindergarten Sunday School teacher for 25 years, and years as Church Clerk and Benevolence Organizer. She also served in the community, particularly with the March of Dimes and local schools.
