Mrs. Pewitt was a native of Blackjack, La., and was a resident of Bundicks. She grew up and attended school in Allen Parish. She was a member of Hopewell Methodist Church. She was a homemaker. She lived part of her married life in Buna, Texas, and Kirbyville, Texas, and then moved back to her roots after the death of her first husband. Her favorite hobbies were cooking and fishing. She believed very strongly in family values and was very rich in traditions. Her main time of the year was Thanksgiving and Christmas. She loved to see young children very happy.
With all of her loved ones that have gone on before our mother, can you just imagine the reunion that is taking place in Heaven?
She was preceded in death by her first husband, Drewey C. Beard of Kirbyville, Texas; one son, Jerry C. Beard of Sugartown; and one daughter, Julia Melissa Burnett of the Blackjack Community.
Survivors include her husband of 29 years, Thomas A. Prewitt of Bundicks; two sons, John Beard and Joe Ray, both of Blackjack; two daughters, Judy Simmons or Hornbeck and Margaret Chaney of Dry Creek; three sisters, Audrey Beard of Sugartown, Ruby Eccles of Pearl River and Revon Eccles of Chalmette; one brother, Riley Martin of Grant; 15 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren.
