WHITING, Iowa -- Bernadine Dausel, 86, of Whiting passed away unexpectedly at her residence Saturday, July 31, 2010.

Services will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at First Christian Church in Onawa, Iowa, with the Rev. Todd Owen officiating. Burial will be in Belvidere Cemetery, Turin, Iowa. Visitation will be 5 to 8 p.m. today, with the family present 6 to 8 p.m. and a prayer service at 7 p.m., at Rush Family Care Service in Onawa. Bernadine Dausel was born July 6, 1924, at Charter Oak, Iowa, the daughter of Fred and Louise (Hottendorf) Preul. She attended schools at Crawford and Ida Counties. Bernadine and Floyd Dausel were united in marriage March 22, 1940, in Onawa, Iowa. They were lifelong farmers in Monona County. Floyd passed away March 14, 1995.

She was a member of the First Christian Church. Bernadine was a very happy, caring person and loved the world around her and was always a very loving mother and grandmother.

Survivors include two daughters and their husbands, Carol and Roger McCandless of Whiting and Judy and Ted Jamison of Corpus Christi, Texas; two grandchildren, Chris and Bonnie Jamison and Heidi and David Rayevich; seven great-grandchildren, Marty, Amethyst and Mac Kenzie Jamison and Aaron, Cameron, Brandon and Tristan Jamison-Rayevich; a sister, Marcella Glau of Mapleton, Iowa; four sisters-in-law, Joanne Preul of Moville, Iowa, Mary Belle Pokorny of Harlan, Iowa, Eva Dausel of Oceanside, Calif., and Mary Dausel of San Antonio, Texas; and numerous cousins, nephews and nieces.

In addition to her husband, Floyd, she was also preceded in death by her parents; three brothers, Roger, Delmar and Wayne Preul; six brothers-in-law, Edwin Glau, Walter Dausel, Harlan (Elaine) Dausel, Leo Dausel, Viggo Dausel Jr., and Andrew Pokorny.
