Helen was born June 14, 1919 in Big Springs, Ohio to Vernon and Clara Pratt. The family moved to Monroe two years later.
She was married on November 4, 1935 to Arling Chatner, who died October 2000. They celebrated their golden wedding anniversary on November 4, 1985.
Mrs. Chatner was a high school graduate of Monroe Senior Citizens Educational Program in 1985, and a member of the Writer's Club. She was an active member of the Monroe Alliance Church, formerly the Christian & Missionary Alliance Church, where she taught Sunday school for fifty years. She was also in the Women's Missionary Group, and sang in the choir. Some of her favorite Bible verses were: Isaiah 40:31; Galatians 2:20; Acts 4:12; Acts 16:31; Philippians 4:13, and II Corinthians 5:17.
She was a member of Frenchtown Senior Citizens and Monroe Senior Citizens, and a prior member of the Star-Liters Club.
She is survived by her daughter, Mrs. Dale (Yvonne) Haman; three granddaughters Vicky Mayer, Lorri Wehner and Dawn Seitz; six great grandsons: Jason, Michael and Erik Mayer, Kirk and Clint Wehner, and Spencer Seitz Jr., and one great granddaughter Samantha Seitz.
She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, two sisters; Velma Haynes and Joyce Mehki, and three brothers; John, Victor and Vernon Pratt.
Friends may call from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday at the Rupp Funeral Home where funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Rev. Ronald Schultz, pastor of Grace Lutheran Church will officiate and cremation will be held at Roselawn Memorial Park, LaSalle.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Lutheran Home of Monroe where she spent her last fifteen months.
