She was born in Folson, W.Va., and was the daughter of the late James and Emily G. (Stout) Powell. Mrs. Adkins retired from Nentwick Convalescent Center where she worked for 28 years as a Certified Nurses Aid. She belonged to the Moose Lodge No. 122 and was a member of the Avondale Baptist Church.
Her husband, Guy Adkins died Oct. 20, 2006.
She is survived by two brothers, James Powell and his wife, Lori, and Charles Powell and his wife, Debbie, both of East Liverpool; three sisters, Hazel Powell, Mona Douglas and her husband, George Coles, and Deloris Foden and her husband, William, all of East Liverpool; and many nieces and nephews.
Besides her parents and husband, a brother, Herman Powell, and a sister, Izetta O'Hanlon, preceded her in death.
Services will be held at the East Liverpool Chapel of the Martin MacLean Altmeyer Funeral Homes on Friday, July 22, 2011, at 11 a.m. with Pastor Terry Weyand of the church officiating. Burial will be in Columbiana County Memorial Park.
The family will be present to receive friends at the funeral home in East Liverpool on Thursday, July 21, 2011, from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m.
