HEADLAND…….Bettie Pounders Adams, a resident of Headland, died early Friday morning, March 5, 2010, in the Wesley Manor Retirement Center in Dothan. She was 84.
Funeral services will be held at 2:30 P.M. Sunday, March 7, 2010, in the Holman-Headland Mortuary Chapel with Minister Mike Anderson officiating. Burial will follow in Gardens of Memory, between Headland and Dothan. The family will receive friends from 1:30 until 2:30 P.M. Sunday at the mortuary in Headland.
Flowers will be accepted or memorial contributions may be made to Wiregrass Hospice, Inc., P.O. Drawer 2127, Dothan, AL 36302.
Mrs. Adams was born and reared in Franklin County, near Russellville, Alabama, daughter of the late Sharon and Delma Grissom Pounders. She was a graduate of the University of Alabama where she received a degree in accounting. Mrs. Adams was formerly employed by the U.S. Department of Treasury as an accountant and in later years was engaged in farming. She was a member of the Westgate Church of Christ. Mrs. Adams was preceded in death by her husband, Henry Maxwell (Max) Adams, Sr.
Surviving relatives include a son, Henry Maxwell (Max) Adams, Jr. and wife, Lisa Adams, Headland; three grandchildren, Henry Maxwell (Max) Adams, III, Hayden Maxwell Adams and Luke Carolton Adams; two sisters, Sue Martin, Russellville, AL; and Nancy Rice, Phil Campbell, AL; a brother, Steele Pounders, Hattiesburg, MS.
