Mary Henrietta Araujo, 87, lifelong area resident, died, Sunday, December 22, 2013 at her home in Log Lane Village.
She was born February 18, 1926 in Fort Morgan to Alfredo and Petra Ponce. She married Salvador F. Araujo on June 30, 1948 in Aurora. He died in 1996.
Mary was an active member of Saint Helena's Catholic Church having served on the Rosary and Altar Society for a time. She enjoyed working cross word puzzles, crocheting, and taking care of her dogs and cats.
Mary is survived by her two sons, Salvador J. Araujo of Log Lane Village and John C. Araujo of Bayard, Nebraska, grandchildren, Melissa, Jill and Jennifer and great grandchildren, Alex and Zachary, and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband Salvador, three brothers, Alfonso, Antonio, and Jess Ponce, three sisters, Hope Ponce, Josie Araujo, and Sally Ponce, who died when she was a child.
There will be a visitation on Sunday, December 29th from 4 until 6 pm followed by a Rosary Vigil which starts at 6:00 pm at the Heer Mortuary in Ft. Morgan.
Mass of Christian Burial will be Monday, December 30, 2013 at 10:30 am at Saint Helena's Catholic Church in Ft. Morgan. Interment will follow in Memory Gardens.
