James V. Polito, 70, of 2116 Teall Ave., Syracuse, died Friday at St. Joseph's Hospital Health Center after a brief illness. A life resident of Syracuse, he retired from New York State Department of Transportation and was a car salesman for 25 years. He was a communicant of Our Lady of Pompei Church. Surviving are his wife, the former Josephine Canestraro; a daughter, Jody Pennisi of Cicero; two sons, Jerald and James, both of Syracuse; two brothers, Louis and Rudy, both of Syracuse; three sisters, Mary Northrup, Emily Delucia and Adeline Canestrare, all of Syracuse; and six grandchildren. Services are 8:30 a.m. Tuesday at Farone & Son Inc. Funeral Home and 9 a.m. in Our Lady of Pompei Church. Burial is in Woodlawn Cemetery. Calling hours are 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Monday at the funeral home, 1500 Park St.
