Thelma Rene Smith, age 90, a resident of Kingsville, Texas and a former resident of Bishop, Texas passed away Tuesday, April 20, 2004 in Kingsville. Born February 28, 1914 in Normangee, Texas to William Jacob Ply and Bulah Stella Edwards Ply, Mrs. Smith was a homemaker. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Bishop.
Mrs. Smith was preceded in death on December 5, 1985 by her husband, Charlie C. Smith.
She is survived by one daughter, Mary Ann Shoemaker of Webster, Texas; stepdaughter, Betty (Tommy) Cornelius of Kingsville; stepbrother, Marcus (Rose) Smith of Port O'Connor, Texas; eight grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
Funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m. Friday, April 23, 2004 at the First Baptist Church, Bishop, with Rev. Clif Abshier officiating. Burial will follow in Kingsville at Chamberlain Cemetery.

Services are entrusted to Turcotte-Piper Mortuary, 205 General Cavazos Blvd., Kingsville, Texas.
