Gladys M. Plunkett, 84, died at 6:34 PM Tuesday, Dec. 1, 1998, in Lafayette Health Care. Born Dec. 26, 1913, at Tazewell, TN, she moved here in 1945. Her marriage was to Melvin C. Plunkett on Aug. 30, 1946, in Lafayette, and he died Aug. 8, 1977.
Mrs. Plunkett served in the Women's Army Corps in the 56th WAC Hospital, and she worked for the U.S. Postal Service, retiring in 1979. She was a member of American Legion Post 11, American Postal Workers Union, and Eagles Lodge.
Surviving are two brothers, Clifford Patterson of Lafayette and Truman Patterson of Tazewell, TN.
