Geraldine E. Hill, 82, a longtime Grand Marais resident, died at Helen Newberry Joy Hospital on Wednesday October 28, 2015.
Born in Boston, MA. on April 11, 1933, she was a daughter of the late Clarence and Ann Poisson. She graduated from High School in that area but in 1954 moved to the River Rouge area. In July of 1955 she married Wallace Hill and was employed as an administrator in a senior citizens facility for over 20 years. When they retired in 1995 they moved to Grand Marais. She then was employed at Welker’s, and the Sportsman as a waitress and served on the zoning board. She finally retired totally in 2005. Geraldine is preceded in death by her parents, 1 brother; a son Wallace and her husband Wallace in 1995.
Survivors include her children William of FL; Sylvia (William) Nagy of Taylor; Michael Rowland of West Branch; Cynthia Spurlock and Laura Hill both of Taylor. Also surviving are 16 grandchildren, numerous great grandchildren and she is a great-great grandmother.
According to her wishes, Geraldine was cremated. The family will gather and greet friends and guests on Saturday, October 31, 2015 from 10:00 - 11:00 at Holy Rosary Catholic Church in Grand Marais. A memorial mass will be celebrated at Holy Rosary Catholic Church on Saturday October 31, 2015 at 11:00 am with Fr. Timothy Hruska officiating.
