Funeral services will be held Friday, at 2 p.m., at the Van Scyoc funeral home in Shippensburg for Mrs. Effie Maude Burkholder, 71, of Shippensburg Star route, who died Monday evening at the home of her son Robert F. Burkholder of Hershey R. R. 2. She had been ill with a cerebral hemorrhage for two days.
She was born in Mongul on Oct. 21, 1882, and was the daughter of the late Josiah and Elizabeth Faust Piper. She was married to the late Samuel Jacob Burkholder and was a member of the Mongul Evangelical United Brethren church.
She is survived by two brothers, Rush Piper of Shippensburg R. r. 2, and Joe Piper of Newville R. R.; a sister, Mrs. Blanche Greenawalt of Shippensburg R. R. 2; eight children, Glenn L. and Seibert R, both of Harrisburg; Samuel J. of Chambersburg; Robert F. of Hershey; Ettie Beryl, at home; Mrs. Ethel M. Nye of Shippensburg R. R. 3; Mrs. Paul Hockenberry of Shippensburg; Mrs. Roy Hock of Shippensburg R. r. 3, and 14 grandchildren.
Funeral services will be in charge of Rev. Earl W. Shoap and burial will be in the Spring Hill cemetery.
Friends were to call at the funeral home Thursday evening after 7 p.m.
