Oakland Tribune, Friday, November 15, 1957, pg E13, col 7-8, "Miss C.M. Piper, Cal Aide, Dies": Berkeley – Nov. 15 – Miss Cecil Marion Piper, 54, senior administrative assistant to the University of California dean of students, died last night at a Berkeley hospital after a two-day illness.
"Miss Piper, who lived at 133 Vicente Road, was a native of San Francisco. She began working in the University recorder's office in 1921 while a student. When she graduated in 1925, she continued on the U.C. staff in the office of dean of undergraduate students. Later she became assistant to Hurford E. Stone, dean of students.
"Miss Piper is survived by a sister, Mrs. F.M. Dreisbach Jr., of San Leandro. Funeral arrangements are pending."

Oakland Tribune, Sunday, November 17, 1957, "Obituaries": Cecil Piper, Assistant U.C. Dean, Dies. Berkeley, Nov. 16 – Funeral services will be held Monday for Miss Cecil Marion Piper, 54, an assistant to the University of California dean of students.
"Miss Piper, whose home was at 133 Vicente Road, died Thursday after a brief illness. A native of San Francisco, she lived in the Oakland area for 45 years.
"She joined the University's administrative staff in the recorder's office in1 921 while a student. After she graduated in 1925, she went into the office of the dean of undergraduate students. Later she was appointed senior administrative assistant to Hurford E. Stone dean of students.
"She was a lieutenant in the Waves during World War II an since was promoted to lieutenant commander in the Naval Reserve.
"Surviving are a sister, Mrs. F.M. Dreisbach, a niece, Gale Dreisbach and a nephew, Ronald Dreisbach, all of San Leandro. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday in the Tower Chapel of Mountain View Cemetery. Arrangements were made by the Telegraph Ave Chapel of Grant Miller Mortuaries, 2350 Telegraph Ave., Oakland."
