BESSIE M. AUSTIN

was born in Hardin County, Tennessee on March 23, 1925 the daughter of the late Frank Eldridge and Etta Elizabeth Tanner Pinson.

On January 22, 1941 she was united in marriage to Clyde Austin, who preceded his wife in death on July 15, 1990.

Bessie was a retired factory worker. She was a very active member of Graham United Methodist Church in Savannah, Tennessee. She loved her church and her church family and Bessie was currently the oldest member in their congregation. Some of the acitivites Bessie enjoyed included sewing, watching her TV shows, talking on the phone to her many friends, listening to Gospel music, and most of all spending time with her grandchildren.

She departed this life on Sunday, April 19, 2020 in Savannah, Tennessee at the age of 95 years and 27 days.

Bessie is survived by her children, Helen Walker, Carolyn Cornelius, Freeda Davis and Jerry Austin, all of Savannah, Tennessee; grandchildren, Rhonda Seaton and husband Greg, Kristi Gean, Lori LaPack and husband Chris, Kevin Barrier and wife Stephanie, and Donald Austin and wife Kim; 12 great grandchildren; 9 great great grandchildren; brother, Joe Pinson and wife Carolyn of Savannah, Tennessee; and a host of nieces and nephews. Bessie is also survived by her son's dog, Otis, who she loved as her own baby.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by one grandson, Jeff Walker and his wife Susan; three sisters, Frances Hill, Catherine Paulk, and Carrie Hughes; and two brothers, James Pinson and Sammie Pinson.

Memorial donations may be made to Graham United Methodist Church.
