PIGEON, Gerald Edmund - age 81, passed away peacefully at Spruce Lodge, Stratford, on Friday, December 25, 2009, following a lengthy illness. He was born in Stratford son of the late Arthur Pigeon and the former Ellen O'Brien and had lived here all his life. Gerry was a longtime employee of Samsonite of Canada until his retirement. He was a life long member of Immaculate Conception Roman Catholic Church, a member of the Eucharistic Team for many years and a member of the church choir. Gerry was a faithful 40 year member of Alcoholics Anonymous. Beloved husband of Doreen Pflance whom he married June 27, 1953 at Immaculate Conception Church. Loving father of Gerald and Bonnie, Daniel and Allison, all of Calgary, Michael and Linda, Greg and Cheryl, all of Stratford. Dear grandfather of Rachelle and Steve Vaivada, John Pigeon, Chloe Pigeon, Andy Pigeon, Corey and Meida Pigeon, Tyler Pigeon. Brother-in-law of Marjorie Ward, Shirley McNamara, Paul Zybura and Vera Pflance. Besides his parents he was predeceased by brothers Joe, Leon, Jack and Greg Pigeon, sisters Doris Hoffman, Kay Reinhart, Mary Mavity, sister in law Lois Zybura and brother-in-law Don Pflance. Friends and relatives may call at the W.G. YOUNG FUNERAL HOME, 430 Huron Street, Stratford on Friday January 8, 2010 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. The Memorial Mass will be celebrated at Immaculate Conception Roman Catholic Church on Saturday January 9 at 11 a.m. followed by interment at Avondale Cemetery, Christ the King Columbarium. Rev. Father Peter Waters will be celebrant.
