Biography: Bob was a graduate of Alexandria High School-Class of 1941. He served in the United States Army during World War II in the Philippine Islands. He retired from Guide-Lamp, formerly of Anderson in 1987 after 45 years of employment. Bob was well-known farmer in Monroe Township, having farmed for more than 60 years. He was a member of United Auto Workers-Local 663 and the Madison County Farm Bureau. Bob started attending the Alexandria First United Methodist Church with his mother when he was a boy. He practiced his faith in service to his church by teaching the adult Sunday School Bible class, serving as a trustee, as Chairman of the Board of Administration and Head Usher for several years. He also served on the Renovation Committee and was a Past President of the Methodist Men and sang in the church choir. Bob was dedicated to his church and would do anything that was needed. He joined the Alexandria Masonic Lodge-#235 in 1984 and has held every office in the lodge with exception of Secretary-Treasurer including serving as Chaplain since 1999. He joined the Order of the Eastern Star-#179 in 1985. He was a Past Worthy Patron and was currently serving as Chaplain also. He was a member of Chapter and Council-#99. He will fondly be remembered as an organist and vocalist for numerous lodge functions. Bob had played semi-pro baseball and was known as an outstanding catcher for the Ted's Cowboys team. He was an avid and loyal fan of the Chicago Cubs. He enjoyed tractors and was "a fixer" of all things mechanical. Bob's devotion to his family will always be fondly remembered.

Funeral Service Time and Day: A Service of Celebration and Worship will take place on Thursday-June16, 2005 at 10 AM in the First United Methodist Church, 116 West Broadway, Alexandria

Interment: Will follow in Park View Cemetery in Alexandria with military honors being provided by Elwood VFW-Post 5782
Visitation: Friends may call at the Owens Funeral Home, 412 North Harrison Street in Alexandria from 3 PM to 8 PM on Wednesday or at the church one hour prior to the service on Thursday. The Alexandria Masonic Lodge will conduct memorial services at 7 PM Wednesday in the funeral home. The Alexandria Order of the Eastern Star will conduct a memorial service immediately following the 7 PM Masonic service.
