Evelyn loved the Lord and her church family at Monument Baptist. She was an avid golfer, an accomplished oil painter, a poet, and a tough chicken foot opponent. Her grandchildren and great grandchildren were entertained by her lively story telling, funny songs, and willingness to play board games. Evelyn and her husband, Jack enjoyed many vacations, golfing in all 50 states. Every summer they loved to visit family in Alaska, often staying weeks at a time. Evelyn is survived by her husband, Jack; three sons, Keith (Judy) Phillips, Kenai, Alaska; Larry Phillips (Kathy Motes), Golden, Colorado; Gary (Cheryl) Phillips, Delta, Colorado; stepson, Gary Pat (Jeane) Baysinger, Grand Junction, Colorado; stepdaughter, Judy (Keith) Phillips, Kenai, Alaska; grandchildren, Michelle "Micki" Phillips, Kailua, Hawaii; Maggie and Sam Phillips, Golden, Colorado; Becky Birr, Rifle, Colorado; Brooke Jeschke; Mike Baysinger; Stacy Wilkins; Blake McClellen; Kristi Schallmo, Grand Junction, Colorado; Andrea McClellan, Anchorage, Alaska; great grandchildren, Savanna Birr; Hunter and Chayse Jeschke; Kara and Alexis Baysinger; Trey and Teagan Wilkins; Tyler and Megan McClellan; and Haley Schallmo; brother, Bobby Eakin, Moody, Texas, and sisters, Mabel Jennings, Appleton, Wisconsin; Francis Cureton, Lorena, Texas, and Faron Hindman, Anchorage, Alaska. Evelyn was preceded in death by an older brother, C.D. Eakin, and a younger sister, LaNell Witt. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews, good friends, golfing buddies, the Bendix "girls", and caring neighbors, Glen and Shirley Ewing. Memorial service will be held at 1:00 p.m., Monday July 27, 2009 at Monument Baptist Church, 486 23 Road, Grand Junction, Colorado. Pastor Ray Shirley officiating. Arrangements by Martin Mortuary.
