The funeral service for Derek S. Phillips was 6:00pm Tuesday, January 26th at the Reed & Benoit Funeral Home, Rev. Jane Eastham officiating.
Calling hours will precede the service from 4:00 - 6:00pm at the funeral home. Burial will be held at the convenience of his family in West Virginia.

Derek passed away Wednesday, January 20th at St. Luke's Memorial Hospital in Utica. He was 51 years old.

Born at the Naval Hospital in Kittery, Maine December 7, 1964, he was a son to Ora and Joyce Greer Phillips. He graduated from Naples American High School in Italy. Following graduation Derek enlisted with the United States Air Force, where he served as a jet engine mechanic until an honorable discharge in 1994.

Most recently Derek was employed by MidAir in Rome, New York. He enjoyed the outdoors and playing golf.

Surviving besides his father, Ora, are his 3 siblings: Kelley and Christopher Hague of Watertown, Erin King of Watertown, Scott and Erin Phillips of Syracuse; his nieces and nephews, Kathryn Rose, Leanne Elizabeth, Christopher Michael, Thomas Phillips, Elyse Irene, Jacob Ora, Abigayle Ann, Shannon Eleanor and Eli Coogan, and a large extended family.

Derek is predeceased by his mother, Joyce, who passed away August 1, 2013.
