Death Of Mrs. Amasa J. Hoyt
"Phebe Elizabeth, wife of Amasa J. Hoyt, passed to her rest at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Willis A. Parker in Binghamton, on Monday January 5, 1903,
Mrs. Hoyt was the oldest daughter of the late Gilbert D. Phillips of Coventry, where she was born January 4, 1829.
On June 19, 1850 she was united in marriage to Mr. Hoyt and on June 19, 1900 they celebrated their Golden Wedding in the home in which they were married. All her life was spent in Coventry with the exception of her last year in Binghamton residing with her daughter.
From her early childhood where she publicly confessed Christ, she was an active, faithful and efficient member of the 2nd Congregational Church of her native place.
For fifteen years she was a helpless but uncomplaining victim of disease. As she sat, day after day, through all these long years of personal afflictions, she was a most beautiful example of Christian fortitude and patience, the memory of which is indelibly impressed on all those who surrounded, knew and loved her.
"They also serve, who only stand and wait."
She is survived by her husband, two daughters and one sister, Mrs. F. L. Martin of Colorado Springs, Col."
