Dorothy Jane Pfaff was born March 26, 1916, in Rock Island, to Carter and Dorothy Dierolf Pfaff. She married Phillip Alongi on July 9, 1938.
She was devoted to her husband and six children, interested in the community and politics, and loved to read and play cards with her many friends. Most of all, she loved the Lord and shared her faith with others.
During her long battle with Parkinson's disease she was an incredible example to her family of strength and joy in the face of adversity.
Her family will be eternally grateful to her loving husband, Phillip, for his tender and diligent care for her several years at home.
Those left to remember her with much love include her husband, Phillip; her children (and spouses), Janet Hanson, Kemha, Texas, Martha (Wayne) Victor, Omaha, Neb., Phyllis (Bill) Schnell, Kissimmee, Fla., Ted (Suzanne) Alongi, Prairie Village, Kan., and Joyce (Gary) Murphy, Taylor Ridge; 14 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and her sister, Patsey Pfaff, Coal Valley. She was preceded in death by her brother and her youngest son, P. Craig Alongi.
