A native of the Spring Creek section of Madison County, she was a daughter of the late Noah and Artha Smith Clark. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Elmer M. Pettit, Sr., who died in 1993; a sonin-law, Bud Youngblood; three siblings; and one grandson.
Mrs. Pettit lived most of her life in Buncombe County. She was retired from American Enka and was the oldest member of Victory Baptist Church.
Survivors include two daughters, Patricia Youngblood, of Fletcher, Joan Calvin and her husband, Earl, of Asheville; a son, Clark Jarvis and his wife, Polly, of Asheville; four grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and one great-greatgrandchild.
The graveside service will be at Green Hills Cemetery, with the Rev. Larry Sprinkle officiating.
