He was born June 19, 1891 in Moravia, Czechoslovakia, the son of Josef and Anna Petr. He came to the United States at the age of 19 and settled in Enid, OK. He later moved to Nebraska and then Wagner. He then homesteaded near White River in 1912.
He married Bessie Fott May 23, 1923 at Hamil. In 1947, he moved near Mission and the couple ranched in Mellette County. He was the founder and builder of the ZCBJ hall in White River. He was a member of the lodge for more then 50 years.
He is survived by one daughter, Mrs. Harrold (Bessie) Krogman of White River; four grandchildren, Harold Krogman Jr. of Mission; Ben Krogman of White River; Edward Krogman of Norris and Mrs. Levi (Kristi) Newbold of Jacksonville, NC; eight great grandchildren and one sister in Czechoslovakia.
