Donald D. PETERSEN

PETERSEN Donald D. (Age 94) Passed away peacefully on Thursday morning July 24, 2014 at Manor Care Nursing Home. "Pete" as he preferred to be called, was born on December 15, 1919 in Spokane, WA to Robert and Nina Petersen. He went into the "3 C's", Community Conservation Corps, under the Roosevelt administration as a young man. His craftsmanship can be found throughout Riverside State Park in the roadways and retaining walls he help to build. Pete served in the Army Air Corps during World War II. Upon completing his military obligation he returned to Spokane and worked for his father in his construction company. He then started his own business as a home builder. Pete went to work for Kaiser Aluminum (Trentwood Plant) in 1956. He enjoyed his time at Kaiser, especially his departmental grievance duties. He married Charlotte Brucick in 1968 and they were together for 46 years. Raising his stepson Jack was no easy task but Pete persevered. Pete retired from Kaiser Aluminum in 1983 after 27 years of service. Pete could fix anything, and spent many an hour in his basement workshop. He loved creating things with his hands, especially for his family. He is survived by his wife Charlotte, son and daughter-in-law Jack and Janet Brucick, numerous nieces, nephews and their children. He will be missed by those who loved him. The family wishes to extend a special thank you to the staff of Manor Care for their caring and love of Pete these past five months. Visitation will be Wednesday, July 30th, 9:00am to 5:00pm at Heritage Funeral Home. A Funeral Service will be held at Heritage on Thursday, July 31st at 11:00am followed by a reception, and the Graveside Service at Greenwood Memorial Terrace.
