Jennett was born to John Peters, chemist/druggist (1811-1856) and Rachel Rees Peters (1819-1899) in Dowlais, Wales. Jennett Peters married William Llewelyn Benjamin Oct 1866 in Wales and they immigrated from Cwmavon Wales to Wyandotte, MI, USA in 1880 (so William could work in the shipyard industry. This was at the urging of his cousin, Ann Dart Williams who already immigrated to Wyandotte MI. Two children died before they immigrated (Mary and Alfred) but they came with their 4 oldest living sons, (William, John, Watkin, and Sydney), and had 3 additional children in Wyandotte MI (May, Tom and Elizabeth). In addition, they cared for some of the children of deceased relatives who had also immigrated to Wyandotte MI (last names were Williams, and Woodward). They lived in a house on Cherry Street in Wyandotte from 1899 until they passed away. Jennett lived to be 92 years old. Their 5 grandsons were the children of son Watkin (3) and daughter Elizabeth (2).

Jennett and William had the following 9 known children:

MRS BENJAMIN DIES AT RIPE OLD AGE

Wyandotte lost one of its oldest residents on Friday of last week when Mrs Jeanette Benjamin died at the family home, 355 Cherry Street.

Born in South Wales, 92 years ago, Mrs Benjamin came to Wyandotte 59 years ago.

She is survived by five children, William L of Detroit, John H, Watkin D, Thomas E, May H, of Wyandotte, and Mrs Adam Steinhauer of Detroit: also six grandchildren and two great grandchildren.

Funeral Services were conducted at the residence at 1:30 and at St. Stephens Episcopal church at 2 o'clock on Tuesday. Rev. G. H. Severance officiated. Burial was in Ferndale cemetery.
