Dorthea Perham Goodfellow, 94 passed away on Wednesday, May 16, 2001 at the Tillers Nursing Home in Oswego, IL. She was born February 28, 1907 in Eveleth, MN, to the late George A. and Laura Mortenson Perham.
    Dorthea was a member of the Wesley United Methodist Church, Circle two of Wesley United Methodist Women, the PEO Sisterhood Chapter BT, and the West Side Reading Circle. Her love of animals sustained her membership in the Fox Valley Animal Welfare and she worked continuously and tirelessly throughout her life in Aurora to find good homes for the many homeless animals that crossed her path. Dorthea was educated in the Eveleth school system. She graduated from Eveleth Junior College in 1926, from The Curry School of Expression in Boston in 1927 and from the Wisconsin State Teachers in Superior in 1928. She taught high school English for three years. Dorthea married John Goodfellow of Superior, WI in 1931. They lived in Kingston Ontario Canada while Dr. Goodfellow was attending medical school at Queens University. She continued her acting and directing career during these years. They moved to Aurora in 1936 when she joined the Aurora Drama Club. She eventually decided to present her own programs to interested organizations, and this career lasted until 1987.
    Survivors include her son, John (Darla) of Morton, IL; two daughters, Susan (Hans) Lagerloef of Sugar Grove and Mary Teegarden of Torrance, CA; four grandsons, Gerell, Kurt, John III and James; a brother, James (Aune) Perham of Sioux City, IA; and two sisters, Laura Jane Hill of Bergland, MI and Geraldine (Bud) Floyd of Ely, MN.
    She was preceded in death by her husband of 49 years, Dr. John Goodfellow; her parents, George A. and Laura M. Perham; a brother, George M. Perham; and two sisters, Perdita (Mrs. John) Dramm and Marjorie Perham.
    A Memorial Service will be held Saturday, May 19, 2001 at 10:30 AM at the Wesley United Methodist Church. There will be no visitation.
    In lieu of flowers, donations in Dorthea's name may be made to the Fox Valley Animal Welfare or to Wesley United Methodist Church.
