ROCK HILL Peggy Greer Percival, 80, of Rock Hill, died Monday, Oct. 31, 2011, at the Wayne T. Patrick Hospice House in Rock Hill.
Born Nov. 4, 1930, in Greenville, she was the daughter of Faye and Samuel Greer. She was married to the late John Lewis Walker Jr. for 37 years. She was married to the late William C. Percival for 10 years. She graduated from Shelby High School in 1946. She was employed by the Winthrop College Bookstore and Thomasson Commercial Realty. She was a member of the Ebenezer Elementary School PTA in the 1970s and president of the Northwestern High Band Boosters in the early 1980s. She was involved in several churches, including Westview Baptist in Shelby, N.C., Northside Baptist in Rock Hill and Fort Mill First Baptist, where she was a member.
Survivors include a daughter, Susan Walker Howie and her husband, Mike, of Indian Land; three sons, Johnny Walker and his wife, Margaret, of Rock Hill, Chris Walker and his wife, Connie, of Tucson, Ariz., and Chuck Walker and his wife, Sherry, of Fort Mill; seven grandchildren, Maggie Jamison of Charlotte, Stacey Cannizzaro of Rock Hill, Mary Hannah Howie of Indian Land, Ionie Walker and Athan Walker of Tucson, Dylan Walker and Flannery Walker of Fort Mill; three great-grandchildren, Ella Jamison and Layla Jamison of Charlotte and Jamie Cannizzaro of Rock Hill; two brothers, Samuel T. Greer Jr. of Shelby and Douglas Greer of Little River, N.C.; two sisters, Anne Greer Banta of Orlando, Fla., and Marjorie Greer Rainey of Rockingham, N.C.
She was preceded in death by a sister, Faye Woods McMullen; and brother, Richard Greer.
The family will hold a private ceremony in Shelby at a later date.
