A. Virginia Bowmwn, 74, of Smithsburg, Maryland, passed away Monday, Jan. 19, 2015, at Quincy Nursing Home.
Born Feb. 19, 1940, in Smithsburg, she was the daughter of the late Raymond L. and Helen V. (Pryor) Pepple.
She attended Smithsburg High School.
She retired from the Frick Co., Waynesboro, in 2002.
Virginia was an avid bowler in her younger years and enjoyed playing bingo in her later years. She always had a smile on her face and was called "Smiley" at the nursing home.
She is survived by a daughter, Sherry L. Beltz, and her husband David, Waynesboro; a son, Eddy W. Bowman, Tulsa, Oklahoma; two brothers, John R. Pepple of Hagerstown, Maryland, and William L. Pepple, Smithsburg; six grandchildren, Amber (Matt) Gossert, Austin Beltz, Ryan Beltz, Heather Bowman, Kristen Bowman and Roxanne Bowman; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by one sister, Carol Ann Himes; and two brothers, Raymond E. Pepple and Larry E. Pepple.

Services will be held Thursday, Jan. 22, 2015, at 11 a.m. at J.L. Davis Funeral Home, Smithsburg, with Pastor John Mullen officiating. Burial will be in Smithsburg Cemetery.
The family will receive friends Wednesday evening from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
