Mary Winn Ellis taught in the Gadsden and Etowah County school systems for more than 40 years. She was a lifelong member of the First Presbyterian Church of Gadsden. She spent months in 1972 caring for her sister Augusta's family in Africa when Augusta was ill. Augusta's husband, Donald Easum, was an American ambassador in Africa at that time. Mrs. Ellis was preceded in death by her parents, Daisy Fleming Morrow Pentecost and Milford Eugene Pentecost; her brother, Milford Morrow Pentecost; her sisters, Ann Pentecost Dunn, Eugenia Pentecost Sanford and Augusta Pentecost Easum; her brothers-in-law, Robert Dunn and Richard S. Sanford; and her sister-in-law, Ruth Pentecost. She is survived by nieces and nephews and other relatives named in the obituary published in The Gadsden Times June 9, 2006.
