Charlotte Ann Pendleton, 71, died Jan. 4, 200, at her Lakeview home.
She was born at the family farm near Rickreall to Charles and Joycie (Stevenson) Ross. She attended Rickreall school through the eighth grade before graduating from Dallas High School as valedictorian of her class. She graduated from Oregon State University in 1950 and was a member of Alpha Xi Delta Sorority. She kept in touch with several of her sorority sisters throughout her life. During her sophomore year at the university she met her future husband, Jack Pendleton, and married him on Aug. 5, 1950, in Dallas. They moved to her husband's hometown of Lakeview; where they have lived since.
In 1951, they purchased a home, which probably is the oldest house still remaining in Lakeview, and, for several years, worked at remodeling its interior. For 14 years, Mrs. Pendleton served as curator of the Schmink Museum. Her college training in art and fashion design was utilized in the complete renovation of the Schmink Home in an 1890s style and converting the basement into a display area of Lake County Pioneer Life.
Her interest in Lake Cunty's people and history was honored by the Lake County Historical Society, the Daughters of the American Revolution, and numerous feature articles in the Lake County Examiner and the Klamath Falls Herald and News. Among her other interests were quilting and collecting teddy bears and antique furniture.
Survivors include her husband, Jack Pendleton of Lakeview; sons and daughters-in-law, Marlon "Lonnie" and Laura Pendleton and Jeffrey and Sally Pendleton; grandchildren; Aspen, Autumn, Creed and Dillon; and brothers, Dan and Darrel Ross.
