At an early age Chevolia Pegram Briggs confessed Christ and became a member of the Saint John Baptist Church, Stony Creek, VA. As a youth, she expressed an authentic love for music and really enjoyed singing. She was a former member of the Petersburg Gospel Choir, under the direction of the Rev. Billy Lee and was also a former member of the Sam Lewis Mission Choir.
At Saint John Baptist Church, Chevolia loved to lift her voice each first and third Sunday that she was able to. She proudly served as the director of the Senior Choir, member of the Mass Choir, and a member of the Sister to Sister Ministry. She was also employed with the Petersburg Association for Retarded Citizens, where she was a devoted caregiver for 16 years.
A celebration of love and life was held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 10, 2005, at the Saint John Baptist Church, Stony Creek, VA.
