Death: Jun. 17, 1991

Quote from Marilyn Miller:
She worked for many years as sales rep for a ladies' corset and undergarment company, traveling all over the world to major department stores, fitting and selling bras and girdles. When local people asked her what her career had been she answered, "I worked in foundations". Everyone looked puzzled and didn't ask any more questions. She wore only the best brands of clothes and never went out in public without an expensive hat. She was tall and thin, and dressed like a fashion model, although she was nearly 80. Her home was filled with souvenirs from her travels to Africa, Asia, etc. and framed certificates from her many times of crossing over the International Date Line.

The city native graduated from Wabash High School before moving to New York where she worked in the clothing industry for many years. She traveled frequently and eventually returned to Wabash, where she visited the Wabash Carnegie Public Library, 188 W. Hill St., on a daily basis. After living in Wabash again for several decades, Pearson retired to Kansas City to be near her family before her death in 1991. In the 1990s, The Elizabeth Pearson Trust, through her estate, established The Elizabeth Pearson Gift Fund for the library. With the interest from this fund, the Wabash Carnegie Public Library has been able to do special projects, including the celebration of its 100th year anniversary, beautification of the building and grounds, and other special events. “About a year ago, the Board decided to do something special to honor Ms. Pearson and her gift and lasting assistance in providing services to the Wabash community,” said Library Director Ware Wimberly. Again using the interest from the funds left by Pearson, the library has spent the past several months researching and then purchasing a Post Clock built by the Vernon Clock Co., Cincinnati, Ohio."
