Sally P. Britton CHESAPEAKE - Sally Jo Pearce Britton, 72, beloved mother, grandmother and sister, went to be with her Lord on Wednesday, Aug. 11, 2010, at her daughter's residence in Chesapeake. She was born in Kinston, N.C., and raised in Portsmouth. Her parents, Joseph A. and Sallie S. Pearce, and her husband, Durwood Paul Britton, all preceded her in death. A graduate of the Portsmouth General Hospital School of Nursing, she was a registered nurse and retired from Chesapeake Public Schools. She was a lifelong member of Cottage Place United Methodist Church where she sang in the choir. She was also a member of the United Methodist Women. .....
A funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 14, in Cottage Place United Methodist Church. Burial will follow in Olive Branch Cemetery. The family will receive friends at Sturtevant Funeral Home, Portsmouth Blvd. Chapel, Friday from 7 to 9 p.m. Memorial donations may be made to the church. www. SturtevantFuneralHome.com.
