COOKSEY, FANNIE B., 95, passed away Thursday evening, December 28, 2006 at her son's home. She had enjoyed a steady stream of loving and healing visits, bedside scripture readings and prayers, handmade Bible verses and hymns filling her room, faithful phone calls and cards with family photos. These gifts were delivered by her sister, all five of her children, her grandchildren, nieces and nephews, neighbors, church members, and her faithful Hospice team and Home Instead help. Born in 1911 in Cumberland County, KY, Fannie later married Earl Cooksey. She nursed him through a year of cancer when he was in his early 40s. The experience brought both of them to a real place before the Lord. His prayers for his family that year, and hers following up after his passing, continue to reap living results in a family vast, diverse, colorful and very much cared for. Her last words were of love to a daughter. Warmth left her hand as it was being held by one of her grandsons kneeling by her bed. Love and prayers for her family are the legacy she leaves. She is survived by a sister, Marie Worf; three daughters and their husbands, Dorothy and Lee Warren, Earlene and Bill Houldsworth, Ruth and Bud Morris; two sons and their wives, Don and Carol Cooksey and Jim and Anne Cooksey. She has 19 grandchildren, 26 great-grandchildren and 11 great-great -grandchildren. She also has a number of devoted nephews and nieces. Visitation is 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Monday at Ratterman's Family Funeral Home, 3711 Lexington Rd. Tuesday visitation will occur at 10 a.m., with the funeral at 11 a.m. followed by burial at Louisville Memorial Gardens. The family requests that expressions of sympathy take the form of contributions to Hospice of Louisville.
