MARION - Bobbie Joe Parrish, 66, passed away at 10:05 p.m. Monday, April 4, 2016, in the VA Medical Center. Bobbie was born Aug. 14, 1949, in Goreville, to Elvis and Mildred (Burklow) Parrish. He served in the U.S. Navy during Vietnam and was a union carpenter and foreman. Bobbie loved horse racing, fishing, boxing and playing cards. He will be missed by all those who knew and loved him. Survivors include his son, Brian Parrish and fiancé, Jessica Thompson, of Marion; daughter, Renee Parrish of San Diego, California; son, Travis and Ciara Parrish of Carbondale; grandchildren, Joanna, Amanda, Genesis, Zepplin, Alexis, Sean and Jocelynn; sister, Sherry Durham; and brothers, Dennis and Alisa Parrish , and Jack and Shirley Parrish. He was preceded in death by his parents; and brothers, Max Parrish, Kenneth Deon Parrish , Bill Parrish , Carl "Tubby" Parrish and John Wayne Parrish. Services will be at 11 a.m. Friday, April 8, in Blue Funeral Home in Goreville, with the Rev. R.G. Null officiating. Burial will follow in Cana Cemetery. Military Rites will be performed by the Vienna VFW Post 5222 with assistance from the U.S. Navy. Visitation will be from 9 to 11 a.m. Friday at the funeral home.
