KAYENTA, Ariz. — Services for Paul Allen Parrish, 79, will be held at 10 a.m. (DST) Thursday, July 27, at the Navajo Mountain Alliance Church in Navajo Mountain, Ariz. Pastor Delbert Smallcanyon will officiate. Burial will follow at the family plot in Navajo Mountain, Ariz..
Parrish was born May 22, 1921, in Kayenta, Ariz. into the Bitter Water People Clan for the Reed People Clan.
Parrish was a Navajo Code Talker, serving from 1942 to 1945. He was a graduate of Northern Arizona University and a Navajo businessman from Kayenta.
Survivors include wife, Wanda S. Parrish of Kayenta, Ariz.; sons, Tery Parrish of Tucson, Ariz., Barry Parrish of Phoenix, Michael Parrish of Ganado and Nathaniel Smallcanyon of North Carolina; daughters, Paula McClure of Flagstaff, Jacklyn Parrish of Phoenix, and Paulette T. Parrish and Shelly P. Begay, both of Kayenta, Ariz.; sisters, Mae Clitso, Delphina Salt and Agnes Bradley, all of Kayenta, Ariz.; and 10 grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Nathaniel "Kevin" Smallcanyon, Peter Yazzie Sr., Daniel Smallcanyon, Leo Thinn Jr., Dale Smith, Eddie
Smith, Freddie Smith and Edward Smith.
The family will receive friends and family after the burial services at Delbert Smallcanyon's residence.
