He attended schools in Keytesville, Kansas City and Salisbury. He graduated from Pembrooke School in Kansas City in 1930. After his freshman year at Central Methodist College in Fayette, he spent one year in the army before transferring to MU at Columbia where he was a member of Phi Delta Theta fraternity. He received his Bachelor of Arts Degree in 1936. He was employed as a salesman with Graybar Electric Co. in Kansas City until 1942 when he enlisted in the army as a private. He graduated from Officers Candidate School at Fort Knox Ky. in 1943 as a second Lieutenant. He participated in three campaigns during WW II: Saipan, Okinawa and the Philippines. He attained the rank of Captain and served as Battalion S-2 Intelligence Officer and also a Company Commander. He was awarded two Purple Heart medals and the Bronze Star medal. After the war he returned to Graybar Electric, transferring to their Los Angeles office. Later he opened the company's branch office in Long Beach, where he served as branch manager. He spent two years in Detroit as appliance sales manager before returning to Los Angeles as district sales manager. In 1955 he formed his own wholesale electrical distributing company, Parks & Company of Long Beach. Upon retiring in 1968 he moved with his family to Missouri where they restored the Gen. Edwin Price home on the Chariton River south of Keytesville. He was a member of the Asbury United Methodist Church, the American Legion, and VFW, and was a former member of the University Club of Detroit and the Rotary Club of Long Beach. A memorial service was held on March 15th at Asbury Methodist Church.
