The funeral service was held on Friday, Jan. 9, at the Eden Valley Church of God. Rev. Daniel Smead officiated. Interment was in the Eden Lake Cemetery.
Russell was born on Feb. 12, 1917, in Osage, Minn., the son of Clarence and Ethel Parks. He grew up in Osage, Park Rapids, Baudette, and Pine River.
On Dec. 23, 2942, he was married to Mildred Kirkpatrick in Seattle, Wash. Following their marriage they lived in Seattle and a short time afterwards they moved to Big Bend, N.D., where Russell worked on the Garrison Dam as a euclid driver. In 1950, they moved to Rice Lake, near Paynesville, where they lived until September 2003 when they moved to Washburne Court. Russell became a resident of the Koronis Manor in November.
Russell worked as a school bus driver, truck driver, forklift driver, and did hobby farming.
He is survived by his wife, Mildred of Paynesville; a son, Val (Roseanne) Parks of Paynesville; nine grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Naomi Cole of Grand Forks and Ida Jane Swanson of Buffalo.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a daughter Beverly, and nine brothers and sisters.
