Nanny Owens was the second of fourteen children born to the late Dock and Candis Parker. She was a member of the of the Hopewell Presbyrterian Church. She was married to the late Chester A. Brown in 1916. To this union one child was born who preceded her in death, Lee Bradley Brown. In 1949 she was married to the late Elijah Owens. Upon moving to Fort Smith she became a member of Mallalieu United Methodist Church in 1921 and was a member until her death. She died on June 18, 1981 at the St. Edward Mercy Medical Center in Ft. Smith, Arkansas.
