NEWPORT NEWS - Raymond L. Parker, 62, passed away on Saturday, June 11, 2005, after a brief illness. He attended George Washington Carver High School, and he served in the U.S. Army where he received a Bronze Star and a Purple Heart during the Vietnam War. Raymond retired from the City of Newport News as a foreman/landscaper. He is survived by a son, Raymond L. Parker Jr. of New York; a daughter, Courtne R. Parker of Charlottesville, Va.; one grandchild, Raylesha Parker; a host of cousins, aunts and uncles; two brothers-in-law and four sisters-in-law. The family will receive friends from 7 to 8 p.m. on Tuesday, June 14, at Carter Funeral Chapel. A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, June 15, at Carter Funeral Chapel. Interment will follow in Albert G. Horton Jr. Memorial Veterans Cemetery, Suffolk, Va. Arrangements by Carter Funeral Chapel.
