"Mrs. Lucille Benson Dies"
Mrs. Lucille Parent Benson, wife of Leo Benson, died suddenly at Wallowa Tuesday, Jan. 21, 1919. She went there a little more than a week before for an operation.
The funeral was held this morning in the Catholic church and burial was in the Enterprise Catholic cemetery. Rev. Joseph Schell officiating.
Lucille Parent was born at Vola, Wis., March 5, 1887, and was a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Edward Parent. She came with her father to Wallowa county about 1910 and took up a homestead east of Joseph. After making proof she lived some time in Joseph and later in Enterprise. Last June she was married to Leo Benson, foreman of the Washtuena ranch of Gildersleeve & Kelley, and she had been very happy with the ranch life.
Her father died several years ago but her mother is living in Wisconsin and she is survived by the following brothers and sisters: J.E. Parent, Union; Alexander Parent, Wisconsin; Mrs. Joseph Pfeffer, Wallowa; Cynia Parent, Wallowa, Mrs. H.J. Lyman, Wallowa, Mrs. N.A. Stephenson, Minneapolis; Mrs. Clarence Gorman, Wisconsin, and Rose Parents of Portland.
