Caroline S. "Carrie" Palmer, dau. of Charles Lee Palmer and his 2nd wife Caroline S. Tucker, b. Aug. 15, 1851 at the City of St. Louis, MO [IL Death Cert.] She d. as the widow Cobb from cancer of the uterus Mar. 19, 1881 at Chicago, IL [IL Death Cert.] and interred at Chicago's Graceland Cemetery [ibid.]

The 1893 pub. Palmer Geneal. and the corresponding Chesbro Family Geneal. erroneously claims Caroline was b. at Stonington, Conn. In the June 1850 enumeration of her parents, they were residing at St. Louis, MO. Except for the 1880 census, in all other federal or state censuses in which Caroline appears her birth location is consistently stated as at Missouri, with her IL death certificate further stating she was b. at St. Louis, MO. In her final June 1880 enumeration at Chicago, IL, Caroline was the widow Cobb head of a household that included her unmarried two-year younger brother Edward Palmer, also b. at St. Louis, MO.

On Mar. 1, 1876 of record at Chicago, IL, Caroline m. Nathan M. Cobb [IL Statewide Marriage Index], who d. at Chicago on May 27, 1878 [IL Death Index.] Whether there was a child b. of the marriage who then d. in infancy is not indicated by available records.
