Dau. of John Painter & (?) Elkins

San Antonio Light
April 1m 1914

Mrs. Julia Daniel, nearly 90 years old, a resident of San Antonio for the last 35 years, died at 10:15 o'clock Wednesday morning at the residence of her daughter, Mrs. Virginia Ely, 514 South Walnut street. Mrs. Daniel was a native of Virginia, born May 22, 1824, and the widow of Robert A. Daniel, who died in San Antonio in 1893.
The funeral will be held at 4 o'clock Thursday afternoon from the residence of her daughter. Rev. Hugh McLellan of Central Christian church to officiate. Interment will be made in the Odd Fellows cemetery.
Mrs. Daniel came to San Antonio in 1875 from California, where with her husband and family she had lived for thirty years. The gold craze of 1849 drew the family in that state. The many horrows of the trip to California, its dangers and narrow excapes from death formed an interesting story that Mrs. Daniel was wont to relate.
Mrs. Daniel is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Ely and Miss Lucy Silver, both of San Antonio, seven grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren, all of this city.
