HARWICHPORT, July 18 - Mrs. Mercy K. Allen, 81, a direct descendent of the earliest settlers of Harwich, died at her home in Main St. here this afternoon following a month's illness. She was the widow of John F. Allen and a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Josiah Y. Paine. She was for many years a member of the Harwich Congregational Church, and active in social and civic affairs of the town. She is survived by two sisters, Mrs. Betsy A. Bearse and Mrs. Clara F. Jones, both of Harwich. Funeral services will be held at her home at 2 Saturday afternoon. Burial will be in Island Pond Cemetery.
