Cora was the daughter of Walter Padgham and Naomi Newark. She married Thaddues Crook on 22 Dec 1880 in Jefferson, Greene, Iowa. They were the parents of Walter, Effie, and Harry.

Feb 14, 1907 - Carroll Times - Mrs. T.H. Crook is among those on the sick list. Her illness, a brain trouble, is giving relatives much concern.

Feb 28, 1907 - Carroll times - As briefly mentioned last week, Mrs. T.H. Crook died at her home in this city at three o'clock Thursday morning. For several weeks her condition had been conceded to be hopeless, a tumor of the brain rendering all efforts to give medical aid futile. Still her age and vitality seemed to indicate that she might live for some time. It was decreed otherwise Monday she fell into a comatose condition, from which she passed into that dreamless sleep, the end of all physical pain and suffering.

Departed, Coda B. Padgham, was born in Cedar County, Iowa, Aug. 3, 1866. She was married at Jefferson, Iowa, Dec. 20, 1881, to T.H. Crook. Their union was blessed with three children of whom following two survive with their father: Effie, Mrs A.C. Vernon of Harlan, Iowa and Walter Crook, D.D.S. of Nebraska. Harry died August 5, 1903. It was beside the later that the remains of the mother were intered in the city cemetery Saturday afternoon.

Mrs. Crook was an active member of the M.E church. Rev Taylor spoke consolingly to the sorrow sticken husband and children showing them a star of hope beyond the valley of tears.

To the Christian neighborly sympathy is soothing and we gratefully accept the friendly effort to lighten the bitter woe of life's darkest hour. At such times we all become kin and extend the hand of brotherhood spontaneously. But each one has has task, each one labors in his own sphere, and we must gain sustaining power from a higher source. We instinctively turn to Him Who said: "Come unto me all ye that labor and are heavy laden and I will give you rest."
