Entry from "TOMBSTONE INSCRIPTIONS IN THE EASTERN CEMETERY, PORTLAND, MAINE by Stephen Marion Watson.
In the late 19th century, a man by the name of Stephen Marion Watson, published 191 inscriptions from Eastern Cemetery in the local newspaper. They are preserved in the Maine Historical Society in Portland as Scrapbook 2 6-11. Mary is now listed here. She was not listed in the 1987 book by William B. Jordan, "Burial Records 1717-1962 of the Eastern Cemetery, Portland, Maine" so presumably her monument had disappeared by 1987.

Note: monument was believed to list birth date as March 5, 1787, but Portland's R-1 Card lists it as Jan 31st. Possibly the March date was the burial date.
