Lillian M. Carter, 91, Eau Claire, died Friday, September 29, 2006, at Luther Hospital in Eau Claire.

She was born in Fall City, Dunn County, on May 12, 1915, the daughter of Arthur and Mabel (Whitney) Owens. She married Calvin H. Carter on March 15, 1934, at the Wesleyan Methodist Church in Eau Claire. Lillian worked at Uniroyal during World War II making ammunition. She worked at the White House as a housekeeper for over 20 years. Lillian had also worked at Libby's Sauerkraut Factory in Eau Claire. She and her husband raised strawberries. Lillian volunteered for The Salvation Army for many years. She enjoyed fishing, but she truly loved playing Bingo.

Survivors include, three sons, Calvin (Bonnie) Carter, George (Gretchen) Carter and David (Jane) Carter, all of Eau Claire; three sisters, Jeanette Poquette of Eau Claire, Marjorie (Barry) Pate of Altoona and Ruth (Russell) Kothlow of Elk Mound; a sister-in-law, Marion Carter of Eau Claire; 12 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren, other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; her son, Wayne; two brothers, Fred and Marvin; two sisters, Ruby Trapp and Dolores Field; and her sister-in-law, Marion Patton.

Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. on Wednesday at Stokes & Mundt Funeral Chapel, 535 S. Hillcrest Pkwy. (Hwy. 12 East) in Altoona, with Pastor Steven Brandt of Evangel Assembly of God Church officiating. Interment will be in Lakeview Cemetery in Eau Claire. Family and friends may call Wednesday from noon until time of services at the funeral chapel.
