Alice M. Carpenter, 87, a resident of Deale and previously of Temple Hills, died of heart failure Sept. 23 at the Gladys Spellman Convalescent Center in Cheverly. Mrs. Carpenter was born June 17, 1913 in Washington, D.C., where she worked for Bell Telephone from 1935 to 1950.
Her husband of 55 years, Frederick E. Carpenter, died in 1986. Surviving are her son, Frederick E. Carpenter of Deale; her daughter, Carol Lynn Draugelis of Severn; and her brother, Lee Owens of Virginia.
Funeral services at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Evans Funeral Home, 16000 Annapolis Road in Bowie. Burial will be in Fort Lincoln Cemetery in Brentwood. Donations may be made to the Alzheimer's Association, 1850 York Road, Suite D, Timonium, MD 21093-5142.
