Velma Behnke, 85, of 985 Crossroad School Road, Eldorado, died 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, March 19, 2008, at Ferrell Hospital.
Services will be held 2 p.m. Saturday, March 22, 2008, at Watson Funeral Home in Eldorado. Burial will be in Wesley Cemetery. Visitation is 5 to 8 p.m. Friday, March 21, 2008, at the funeral home.
She was born April 18, 1922, in Eldorado to Cecil and Eloise (Skelton) Owens. On Aug. 31, 1940, she married Kenneth C. "Jess" Behnke, who preceded her in death on March 30, 1995.
She was a member of Wesley Chapel Church, Eldorado Garden Study Club, Better Homemakers HEA and Eldorado Senior Citizens.
She is survived by two sons, John Robert (Sharon L.) Behnke of Fort Walton Beach, Fla., and Thomas R. (Sharon K.) Behnke of Carmi; two daughters, Donna (Jack) Lane of Eldorado and Trudy Etienne (Danny Case) of Eldorado; a daughter-in-law, Sharon S. Behnke of Harrisburg; 11 grandchildren, Michael (Kim) Etienne of Sycamore, Robann (Mike) Grass of Alto Pass, Carrie (Matt) Hillyg of Troy, John D. Lane of Eldorado, Brenna Lane of Urbana, S. Nicole Behnke of Carmi, Michelle (John) Crowe of Waynesville, N.C., D. Bryce (Elena) Behnke of Talmo, Ga., K. Blake (Katie) Behnke of Harrisburg, K. Brooke Behnke (Carey) Harbison of Harrisburg and Joel D. Lane of Eldorado; 13 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by a son, K.C. Behnke; and an infant brother, Cecil Owens Jr.
