Betty Owens, daughter of the late Esau and Maggie Brown Wright, was born in Pulaski County, KY. and she departed this life having attained the age of 99 years.

She was united in marriage to Mr. E. C. Wright, he preceded her in death.

Survivors included a son Glen Wright of Cincinnati, Ohio; two sisters, Helen Wuest and Christine Lattimer and eight grandchildren.

Other than her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a son, Eugene Wright and two brothers.

Born and raised on a small farm in rural Kentucky, Betty was the oldest of five children. She was responsible for raising her siblings. She had to stand on a box to reach the sink and stove. Actually, that didn't change much over the years.

At age 18 she accepted a ride with a relative to move to Cincinnati, OH. She got her first job working at Gibson Greeting Cards. She met and married Ed Wright. They had two sons, Gene and Glen.

When WWII started she became a "Rosy The Rivetor" of sorts by working at an airplane parts manufacturer. Her hands were small, so she was given the job of cleaning out the metal shavings in cylinders for fighting planes. During the 50's Ed and betty had a small grocery store. After Ed's death in 1954, Betty sold the store.

Betty later moved to Florida, where she lived from 1983 to 1999.

Betty is truly loved by her family. Every generation for the past 100 years has benefited from her love and devotion; first her parents and siblings, then her husband and children. She was a working Mom before it was vogue. As grandchildren arrived, she stepped in to help when and where ever she could, no matter waht it cost her in time, effort or money.

Betty was a kind person who will be greatly missed by all who knew her, she leaves a host of relatives and friends who mourn her passing.
